County Tourism bureau seeks independence from chamber
Garden City voters sparked a shift as the county commission approved disbanding the tourism advisory committee CTB to report directly to the county. CTB members described aims to cut out the middle man and use guest tax funds with transparency while the chamber argued for renewal of its 34 year role. Officials warned of fragmentation but supported a united approach and potential future contracting with the chamber. The change will take effect after January with books to close by January 31.
