Kathleen Sebelius won a second term as Kansas governor with about 58 percent of the vote defeating Republican Jim Barnett who drew roughly 41 percent. She told reporters in the State House she plans a full four-year term focusing on education health care and the economy while denying tax hike plans.

Democrat Paul Morrison defeated Republican incumbent Phill Kline for Kansas attorney general amid disputes over abortion clinic patient records. Final results: Morrison 58 percent to Kline 42. Morrison framed victory as enforcing lawful, private conduct, while Kline faced privacy and misconduct accusations during a heated campaign.
