KDHE issues permit for Sunflower Holcomb plant expansion
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued an air quality permit addendum for Sunflower Electric Corp.'s proposed 895 megawatt Holcomb coal plant expansion. Gov Brownback said the permit supports clean power and new jobs while the state pursues key federal emission standards. KDHE found the project would not exceed emissions, but the Kansas Supreme Court required specifics on NO2 SO2 standards and Hazardous Air Pollutants limits. Sunflower released a brief statement saying they are reviewing the addendum and declined further comment.
