Kansas pension groups weigh lawsuit over new state law
Retiree and public employee groups in Kansas discuss suing over a law this year forcing teachers and government workers to concede on pensions to fix KPERS funding gaps. The measure requires higher employee contributions or reduced future benefits for most workers. Some changes exclude hires after June 2009 and aim to close a 7.7 billion shortfall projected through 2038. Jane Carter of Keeping the Kansas Promise says legal options are under review.
