CHICAGO i Grain reported a softer Board of Trade trend with earlier losses trimmed by the close. Cash grain receipts were fairly heavy and moisture across grain areas over the weekend prompted selling. Wheat closed lower, July at 1.90 to 1.94, corn down to 1.43, oats 0.68, rye up to 1.02, soybeans near 2.44. Wheat futures purchases rose to 14.3 million week and year 10.2 million. open interest at 61.233 million bushels.

Pioneer Myra Reeves Dies at 85 in Finney County
Myra W. Reeves, pioneer resident of Finney County, died Saturday at St. Catherine hospital at age 85 after a two week illness. Born April 26, 1870, in Marion Wayne County New York she moved to Garden City area in 1885 with her parents and taught school in the region for about four decades. Survived only by a niece Elena Lastor of Chanute, she will be buried in Valley View Cemetery after services at Phillips chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Kenneth D Carpenter, 42, moved from Crawford County jail at Steelville to the St Louis city jail. Capt Lewis Howard said Carpenter, once on the FBI ten most wanted list, was captured Sunday at the intersection of US 68 and State Route 19 by Trooper Eugene D Hancock after escaping May 18 from Wyandotte County jail in Kansas City Kansas where he was held for a $9000 Oswego bank robbery on Nov 27 previous.

Three Soldiers Killed As Gaza Fighting Flares
Two Israelis and an Egyptian soldier were killed and six Israelis wounded in a heavy three hour artillery battle in the Gaza trouble area. Each nation accused the other of opening fire. A spokesman said one Israeli dead and four wounded were civilians. An Egyptian spokesman admitted shells were fired into civilian settlements to silence Israeli batteries.
