Buffs track teams press for glory at 6A state meet
Garden City's GCHS squads posted a fourth place in boys with 37 points and a 17th finish for the girls at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. Gurrola set a personal best 2:18.91 in the 800, but Dodge City's Jessie Harshberger won gold with 2:16.11. The Lady Buffs 4x400 relay, led by Gurrola, aimed to overtake Lawrence High, which clocked 3:57.07 to win. Gurrola anchored the relay as disappointments lingered after Lawrence pulled away late. The boys and girls look to rebound next season with most of the lineup returning.
