Preservation project revives Army airfield memories in Garden City
Garden City resident Elwin Schwartz preserves four souvenir editions of The Garden City Telegram from the 1943 Army airfield era. The pages will be displayed free at the airport through Monday, using digital reproductions that resist fingerprints and glare. Local aviation director Rachelle Powell notes the display honors WWII history and the airport’s wartime role while community groups contributed lighting and mounting work.
