Immigrants live longer than U.S. born by years in study
Immigrants who come to the United States outlive native born residents by about three years, with black immigrant men living nine years longer than U.S. born Black men. The NIH analysis of 1986 to 1994 records finds immigrants smoke less, are leaner, and exercise more, though assimilation can erode these advantages over time.
