Drought damages Kansas wheat crop and futures rise
Drought has cost farmers in Kansas and Texas about 1.5 billion dollars with most wheat yields severely reduced. Sublette and Copeland area expert Joey Kuehler notes dry land wheat almost unsalvageable while irrigated wheat fares only slightly better. Kent Martin of K State reports 20 bushel yields in spots and worse elsewhere as drought and heat persist across Barber Harper Kingman counties. Harvest may begin June 5 with many regions seeing limited yields and hail damage added in Morton Lane and other counties.
