Garden City Municipal Band Remains A Civic Pride Since 1879
The Garden City Municipal Band, about 60 musicians strong, traces its roots to late 1800s town bands and survives as a community fixture funded by the city budget. Patti Barton, the band’s longest serving member since 1954, notes it offers youth a place to play after school and serves as an outlet for aging musicians to perform with family members like daughter Dallce Barton.
