Judge leniency over theft sparks debate on responsibility
Patrick Murphy argues a Chicago woman's three year embezzlement of 241,061 from her employer, to fund clothes and jewelry, was enabled by a federal judge who gave five months probation, home confinement, work-release, and a 30,000 fine citing chronic low mood. He contrasts this with traditional punishment, questioning the justice system's shift toward excuses and environment.
