House backs increase in K 12 funding in Kansas

The Kansas House spent hours debating amendments before advancing a bill on school finance reform. A funding package would add 180 million in the first year and 100 million the next year, amid clashes over transgender restroom rules and other education policies. The measure, HB 2410, faces Senate action and a possible veto by Gov. Brownback.

Gas prices inch up ahead of Memorial Day travel

AAA Kansas reports a small rise in national and state gas prices ahead of Memorial Day. The national average is $2.37 per gallon, up three cents from last week. Seventy six percent of states show price increases with Kansas seeing a slight bump in Wichita. Garden City averages about $2.13 with Sam’s Club at $2.06 and Conoco highest at $2.? per gallon.
