Finney County commission accepts the resignation of Appraiser Roop and states the process to fill the vacancy will begin immediately. The move triggers steps to appoint or hire a successor to the county appraisal office.
Alan Roop submitted his resignation to Finney County commissioners reporting general health problems. He has served as county appraiser since 1987 with last day May 31. Deputy Wendy Dunagan named interim appraiser. recruitment for a permanent successor will begin immediately.
Holcomb residents pack city council chambers seeking reestablishment of the Holcomb Volunteer Fire Department after a 2005 abolition. They cite fire at a resident’s home and slower response times under current Garden City firefighting coverage, with current monthly $400 service.
