Ella V. Neff longtime Lakin resident died April 22 2008 at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin born September 27 1925 in Lakin to Fred G. and Vivian Paddock Thomas she graduated Lakin High School in 1943 studied at Emporia College and Washburn University paralegal. She worked as secretary at various posts including Army air base Garden City and Beymer and Beymer. She married Vernon M. Neff in 1946 raised four children served as district magistrate judge 1975 1981 and remained active in civic church and school groups. Survivors include three sons a daughter sisters a brother two grandchildren and two stepgrand children. Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Memorials to church or Parkinson Association in care of Chapel of the Roses Mortuary in Lakin. Elizabeth M. Wagner 96 died May 7 2008 Garden City services June 26 at First United Methodist Church Garden City complete obituary later Price & Sons Funeral Home in charge.
Michael J Turner, 56, died Tuesday May 20, 2008, at his farm near Holcomb. Price Son Funeral Home of Garden City will announce arrangements.

Tuesday reports list Jennifer Timberlake 24 of 502 E Pine St arrested at 7:48 p.m. on a county warrant. Ramiro Rocha 29 of 6120 Old Post Rd arrested at 2:49 p.m. on possession of drug paraphernalia. Elson Martinez 27 of 609 N Ninth St arrested at 2:49 p.m. on a third driving while suspended. Javier Barrientos 31 of 4101 E US Highway 50 Lot 321 cited and released at 11:07 a.m. for no valid driver's license in the 2400 block of West Buffalo Jones Ave.
Between 12 15 and 5 01 a m a vehicle was entered to steal a car stereo with 100 loss. At Garden City Community College a wallet was taken for 165. Gaspar Ramos Anguiano 24 was arrested at 10 20 a m on no Maria Vazquez 40 no valid license. Jesus Tapia 31 was arrested at 11 10 a m on no proof of insurance and no child safety restraint. Birgilio Begerano 24 was arrested at 5 37 p m on a 2006 out of county arrest warrant.
Holcomb Police Department reports on May 13 Greg Andrews Jr., 35, Holcomb, was arrested in Finney County at 9:45 p.m. on three out-of-county warrants from 2006 and 2007 and two Holcomb warrants for no proof of insurance and a second driving while suspended offense.
Between 7 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday a person used a permanent marker to deface several street signs in the 1100 block of East Talley Trail. Loss is estimated at $100.
In the 600 block of Labrador Boulevard between 10 54 and 10 58 pm a person was battered. Police report details are limited and no suspect information is available. The victim sought medical evaluation and police are reviewing surveillance footage for leads.
Finney County Sheriff’s Office arrested Salvador Ramirez 43 for driving while suspended at 1 07 a.m. on an allegation of DWS. Jeffery Rigdon 26 Holcomb faced a 2000 city warrant and 2007 probation viola tion. Lynn Bohm 26 and Wade Unger 39 were held for DWS and second DWS offense. Frank Sertuche 53 of Lubbock Texas and Jessica Chapman 22 Coffeyville faced warrants for sex offender registration and no valid driver’s license. Ever Vanegas 19 faced no proof of insurance charges.
The Garden City Fire Department logged multiple calls Friday including two false alarms at 2145 Air Service Road and 605 Labrador E. Blvd, a noninjury wreck at Kansas Avenue and Center Street, a building fire at 4101 E US Highway 50 Lot 74, a cooking fire at 4538 W Buffalo Jones Ave, and a good intent call plus an extrica at separate North US Highway 83 and North Third Street blocks.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports multiple arrests including Dara Abustan 27 and others for DUI driving with no valid license and immigration detainers. Suspects listed with ages and cities Oklahoma City and local addresses, times ranging from 12:58 a.m. to 7:44 p.m. on Sunday.
Finney County deputies found 56 year old Michael Turner on farm land west of Holcomb at 3:04 pm Tuesday. The cause of death is unknown but not considered suspicious. the investigation continues.
AP reports the Kansas Lottery results for Tuesday with Daily Pick 3 29 6 and Kansas 2by2 Red numbers 6 24 White numbers 6 21.
Trustees debated Tyson Fresh Meats request to cover lease payments for three current vans and a fourth 15 passenger van, plus about 10 000 to 12 000 for fuel and 7 000 for driver incentives. Some trustees questioned the cost given Tyson's size, while others said supporting recruitment helps the community and the county’s plants.
