Schools expand laptop programs across Kansas districts
Hays USD 489 moves from high school to district middle and elementary schools with a broader laptop program and a student rent option for summer. Greeley County USD 200 will provide laptops to seventh to ninth graders at its charter school this year and plans to buy 80 more Apple Notebooks for seventh through 10th graders next year. Superintendent Bill Wilson says the shift addresses Gen X and Y student needs and reduces scheduling conflicts while training teachers to integrate technology, with expanding costs offset by grants and fund redirects.
