School district theft case leads to new money handling policy
Police filed an affidavit against a GCHS employee amid theft charges. The district dismissed the worker in spring or early summer as officials vowed tighter controls. A new policy, effective April 29, now limits cash on hand and requires three people to account for ID funds with random checks, aiming to prevent future misappropriation. The probe notes this is the second internal theft since December 2001, with a former choir director already charged for misused funds.
