Scott City monitors arsenic in municipal well water

Scott City continues quarterly testing after arsenic levels at well No 4 in the 1100 block of Glenn Street rose above the state limit. Tests showed 15 ppm months ago and 13 ppm last month, but officials say levels fluctuate between 9 and 15 ppm and are not a health hazard. If readings stay over 10 ppm for a year, treatment or abandonment may be required, at a potential cost of 300000 to 350000 dollars.
