DHS Oversight Critics Say Too Much of a Good Thing
Washington AP reports that Homeland Security faces heavy congressional oversight from 108 committees and groups. In 2009 DHS answered 11,680 letters and 232 witnesses appeared at 166 hearings at an estimated cost of 10 million dollars. Critics say oversight distracts from security duties while supporters cite purposeful redundancy across immigration and security agencies.
