Garden City Airport eyes fuel, flight school and taxiway upgrade
Garden City plans to boost operations with more military traffic and a potential flight school while weighing inclusion of building and equipment needs in next year’s budget. Current year budget stands at 774,500 with $2.4 million planned for lighting panel and taxiway A reconstruction. FAA funds cover a 95 percent share. The city anticipates 10,000 passenger flights to meet FAA targets. 9,402 in 2004 and 9,402 through April this year. Airport study across Garden City, Dodge City and Liberal may reshuffle service patterns, possibly dropping Kansas City flights in favor of Amarillo, Dallas or Wichita.
