EMAC centers grow as new malls attract shoppers
Proponents tout EMAC enclosed malls as heat free havens drawing in customers in the North and the South West, despite higher build and operating costs up to a million dollars and rent up to 25 cents per square foot. Builders cite increased sales and expanding plans, with more centers under construction near Phoenix and St. Petersburg. EMACs feature large layouts, department stores, amenities, and cultural events, while non enclosed malls rise elsewhere with future conversion potential.
