City approves uniform sales tax incentive policy
Garden City commissioners unanimously adopted a uniform policy to reimburse infrastructure costs for businesses through a formula based on sales tax generated. Eligible firms may recover up to 80 percent of costs for up to 15 years, covering grading lighting parking and landscaping. The move follows a December decision to award 1.5 million in incentives to a Home Depot under construction near Applebee's, amid controversy from some local merchants.
