Cosmetology students head for nationals
Garden City Community College cosmetology students earned a clean sweep at the VICA state contest in Wichita April 9 and 10, with first place in five events and two seconds and three thirds. Top placers include Ruth Starkey, Sherri Elliott, Jeanie Burrows, Brenda Westeman, Phyllis Newberry, and Dee Boyer. First place in most events advances qualifiers to the National Skill Olympics in Atlanta June 15 to 20. Blanche McKleoy presides over the area unit 099 with instructors Natalie Rieman and Helen Giest serving as sponsors.
