Careful with pork in microwaves warning
Washington AP reports the Agriculture Department warns consumers to heat pork to 170 degrees Fahrenheit in microwave ovens to destroy trichinae and other microbes. The advice, supported by the National Livestock and Meat Board, stresses thorough, uniform cooking and includes tips on rotating dishes, resting time, and using a thermometer. No illness reports have been linked to microwaved pork.

Liberal man faces charge in Kimball hit and run
Stephen Eisenhauer 31 of Liberal Kansas arraigned in Kimball County Court on felonious criminal mischief and three misdemeanor counts for a hit and run that injured Trooper Larry Brower. He posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond and was freed. Brower, hospitalized with whiplash injuries, pursued Eisenhauer who was later arrested at a Kimball restaurant after his pickup struck the patrol car and fence.
