Kansas wheat crop in poor condition in Kansas
Kansas wheat remains mostly poor or very poor in the latest Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service weekly condition report. Forty one percent of remaining acres are poor or very poor, 34 percent fair, 23 percent good, and 2 percent excellent, with 38 percent last week in the poor or very poor category. Alternative forecasts suggest the 2001 Kansas harvest will be very low, potentially allowing North Dakota to supplant Kansas as the top U.S. wheat producer.
