Budgets were trimmed by 167 million, with attrition in coaching, food service, bus driving, custodial and paraprofessional roles. Some districts closed schools, shortened years, or delayed textbooks and buses, cut summer programs and arts offerings, and restricted travel and extracurriculars. State aid fell sharply, totaling 310.9 million less this fiscal year, with a 241 million drop in general aid and reserves likely to fall by about 300 million, leaving 1.16 billion in cash but most restricted by law.
