Adults' marijuana abuse climbs across US adults
A JAMA report led by Dr. Wilson Compton shows marijuana abuse or dependence rose from 1.2 percent in 1991-92 to 1.5 percent in 2001-02, about 3 million adults 18 plus, with sharp increases among 18-29 year olds especially Black and Hispanic men, plus those aged 45 to 64. The study calls for enhanced prevention and monitoring efforts targeting young Black and Hispanic communities.
