Palestinian Cabinet Meets After Attacks Begin
In Ramallah the Palestinian Cabinet meets for the first time since the Israeli offensive began. Two Palestinians and an Israeli soldier die in new West Bank clashes while Good Friday observers report a prolonged stand off at Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity with some 150 Palestinians inside and food running out. Strain grows as Powell proposes an international Mideast conference backed by the UN EU and Russia. Israel and the Palestinians seek details before possible participation. Arafat ponders Arab leadership input as Cairo ministers convene next week.
