Kansans near passage of no call telemarketing bill
A conference committee in Topeka finalized a compromise no call bill to shield consumers from unwanted telemarketing. The plan creates a DMA controlled list for five years with at least one free registration option, and allows the attorney general to negotiate DMA contracts. Calls to those with a defined business relationship remain prohibited, and caller ID disclosure by 2004 is required. The measure heads to Gov. Graves for final approval.
