Tampa Red laid to rest in warm Chicago ceremony
Blues legend Tampa Red is buried in a quiet service with few attendees. Born Hudson Woodbridge between 1900 and 1908 in Smithsville Georgia, he rose to fame with 1928’s It's Tight Like That and released over 150 78s. A heart attack ended his career and life after aging, poverty, and a late revival faded his fire.

Arts Endowments Question Private Funds Gap
The chairs of the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities challenged Reagan’s plan to rely on private funds after budget cuts. They questioned business interest in supporting poets residencies, small presses, or dance rehearsals as lawmakers prepare to decide on $88 million for the Arts and $85 million for the Humanities, a roughly 50 percent cut.
