WeKan Support Opens Submissions as Kanstarter Rebrands
WeKan Support now accepts public project submissions after Kanstarter rebrands from Kansas Sampler Foundation and WeKan Network. Four rural pilot projects concluded fundraising in January, raising 30000 for Plains Wilson Burdett and Yates Center, with mixed success but full promised funding delivered. Community volunteers organized awareness through events and social media, and training in Salina prepared applicants for two phase submissions with online approval, video pitches, and final site placement.

Kansas House and Senate inch toward joint budget bill
Lawmakers from both chambers meet to compare Senate budget with House approved version as party leaders navigate a conference process. The Senate bill spends 6.48 million from general funds and 15.47 million from all funds for FY 2016, with higher education funding among disputed points. Rep. Ryckman signals no immediate House vote, while Rep. Ward denounces the process as anti democratic and raises concerns for constituents.
