Kansas House to debate 2012 budget
Kansas lawmakers moved to debate the 2012 budget after weeks of committee work led by Governor Brownback. The plan totals about 14 billion dollars in spending for the new fiscal year starting July 1, with roughly 6 billion in state revenues and an ending balance near 80 million if enacted, while tax collections for March awaited initial figures. The House and Senate differed on school aid cuts per student, with the Senate proposing 226 and the House 250, Brownback backing 232, as the governor urged the caucus to finish the issue.
