At Garden City for a National Little Britches Rodeo, seven year old Carlie Jones and eight year old Tatum Hughes competed in flags barrels poles and goat tying while families spent hundreds locally. Organizers estimate about 95 contestants and 70 families contributed to a solid weekend economic boost with visitors also enjoying meals fuel and lodging.
Cassadie Copeland and her steer Terry highlighted Finney County Spring Beef Livestock Show at the Finney County Fairgrounds. About 56 entries competed, fewer than typical due to higher gas prices, with 4-H and FFA members judged in breed heifers and showmanship categories.

Jim and Kathy Shafer later took over, borrowing millions from Security State Bank of Scott City, using land in Greeley County as collateral. Foreclosure occurred on December 14, and a January petition by Adrian Polansky cites default on bank payments.
Jerry Romesburg a 57 year old Gardner City resident and oil field mechanic turned bronze sculptor explains how an arm injury led him to clay modeling in his garage. He has created three pieces including an English Painter a Old West wrangler and a bull elk now at a Loveland Colorado foundry. The process from clay to wax ceramic and finally bronze involves a 14 step path and high costs though clay allows quick fixes.
