Advocates file suit to protect disabled in Kansas
InterHab, a Topeka based disability services group, sued the Kansas Supreme Court in mid March to overturn funding cuts to developmental disability services in the current fiscal year. The action targets more than 10 million dollars in state funds and affects over 2,000 individuals across the state. The suit claims violations of equal protection under state and federal law and the ADA and Rehabilitation Act. Debbie Reynolds of Mosaic in Garden City supported the challenge, calling the cuts irresponsible.

Government fix for foreclosures aims to curb crisis
The Obama administration unveils a plan to stabilize housing by aiding borrowers who owe more than home value or are unemployed. It hinges on investors and banks agreeing to reduce debt or refinance via FHA, with $14 billion in incentive funds. Unemployed homeowners could see payments capped at 31 percent of income for three to six months, then qualify for loan modifications under a $75 billion program. The goal is to prevent foreclosures for eight to four million borrowers, depending on implementation.
