Thatcher denies Hollis Soviet agent link amid intelligence row
Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher told the House of Commons there was no evidence former MI5 director Sir Roger Hollis was a Soviet agent or that Britain’s intelligence services face deep Soviet penetration. She rejected Chapman Pincher’s claims about Lord Trend’s conclusions and noted a broader treachery charge surrounding the intelligence world. The reports also implicate late officer Charles Ellis in alleged Nazi and Soviet spying, details drawn from Pincher’s forthcoming book.
