City plans air service study and new posts at airport
Airport City will conduct an air service study with Aquila and the Finney County Economic Development Corp. to finish by May or June. Commissioners approved adding an operations director at Garden City Regional Airport at about 29000 a year, promoting Rachelle Powell, and creating a 12 to 18 month internship to market city services with pay 28000 to 34000. The show’s security rate and city envelope bill were also discussed.

Mystery manufacturer eyed for land deal and incentives
City approves up to 100 acres of land purchase with $1.5 million land cost and $4 million electric fund support to lure a technologically advanced firm. Incentives include road work, water and sewer mains, a lift station, seven-figure utility upgrades, and tax abatement discussions aimed at restoring 2,400 lost jobs and boosting a struggling economy. Officials say the project could later expand to 100 acres, with potential rate effects for other customers and a multi-year payback on incentives.
