Law call to fund KU pharmacy expansion faces delay
Rep. Mike O Neal sought a $50 million KU pharmacy school expansion bond and $1 million for planning, but the House removed both items from the state building bill. Lawmakers plan to revisit during the budget wrap up session this spring as Kansas counties face pharmacist shortages with seven counties lacking a pharmacy and 30 more with one. The KU program currently exceeds available spaces, and the bill would add 45 beds in Lawrence and 40 in Wichita. The measure then advances to the Senate.
