Fire kills 62 at southern Russia nursing home
In Kamyshevatskaya on the Azov Sea coast a blaze killed 62 residents at a two story nursing home after the night watchman ignored two alarms. Firefighters from a distant town arrived too late. 35 injured and 97 people total were in the building. 30 hospitalized but not in danger.

Russian mine blast kills more than 100 in Kuzbass
Rescuers in the Kuzbass coal region recovered more bodies at the Ulyanovskaya mine raising the death toll to 106 after a methane gas blast. About 200 workers were underground when the explosion struck early Monday at roughly 885 feet depth. Four people remained missing and 93 were rescued earlier.
