GED milestone rises from a Christmas fire
Rosemarie Otterstetter Allen, a former ConAgra Beef worker, earned her Kansas High School Diploma in 2002 after turning a job loss from the 2000 Christmas Eve fire into education. She completed GED testing in 2001, walked at Garden City Community College in 2002, and now works at Finney County Community Learning Center guiding others. She received the 2002 Outstanding Adult Basic Education Learner/GED Adult Learner Award and plans to earn a general associate degree.
