Kansas lawmakers clash over school funding adequacy and equity
The committee chair urged votes on Senate and House school funding bills that would add about 40 million dollars to poorer districts. Tallman warned that cutting general state aid could harm adequacy in the Supreme Court case, while Trabert argued the bills would still exceed adequacy needs. Fitzgerald proposed consolidating districts to improve fairness as lawmakers face a summer deadline to comply.
