Crist seeks another term amid district budget concerns

Board member Crist faces a re election amid worries over financing and No Child Left Behind compliance. He notes a 2 percent budget cut may not hurt education but hints deeper cuts could affect programs like extracurriculars as district budgeting favors 98 percent funding for most programs. He advocates returning to a larger community budgeting process and sees a turf project at Memorial Stadium as a community issue with multiple partners. Four of six seats are open in the April 1 vote, with incumbents seeking re election and voter registration closing soon.
