Lawmakers push to fix Kansas LLC tax policy fairness

Senate leaders seek to redefine the 2012 LLC tax rule claiming wage income was never exempted to reward reinvestment. Senate Bill 508 would tax 70 percent of business income as wages while 30 percent remains tax free, with President Wagle urging spending cuts instead. House Bill 2444 would end the LLC exemption and cut the food tax rate to 2.6 percent, a plan pitched as revenue neutral but raising budget concerns among lawmakers.
