Mystery 36 star flag linked to Lincoln era found in Kansas box
Susan Schrader carried a cedar chest treasure to the Museum of the Great Plains in Leoti. The 36 star flag, once owned by a Lincoln supporter, may have flown above Lincoln’s funeral procession in New York City in 1865. The flag marks Nevada’s 1864 statehood and Nebraska’s 1867 addition, with sentimental ties noted by curators and historians.
