Plates spark drivers creativity under new rules
Kansas officials report license plate redesign prompts inventive tags. Freda Warfield notes slogans like JAYHAWK are plentiful while 105 JAYHAWKs would be hard to track. Butch Moore, after failed attempts, settles with KUSTM54 for his 1954 Bel Air. Douglas County has 925 personalized plate orders under America's Heartland design, with more arriving via renewal. County treasurer Paula Gilchrist says complaints rose but customers find budget friendly options and the staff admires public creativity.
