Hindu Art Exhibit Bridges India to U S audiences
The First Center exhibit presents 170+ Hindu sacred artworks from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh dated between the 4th and 20th centuries. It showcases avatars like Vishnu and Krishna, mythic scenes, and temple imagery, with scholars noting handling of sacred objects as art and the challenge of context in museums. The show runs through May 29 before moving to the Brooklyn Museum where Cummins is the Asian Art curator.
