FDA seeks rapid test for salmonella

Washington AP reports the FDA seeks a fast rapid test for salmonella to replace slow conventional labs. Outbreaks linked to peanut butter tomatoes and hot peppers raised consumer alarm and cost producers millions. The agency plans to solicit plans from private firms and academia and then evaluate two to three methods in head to head lab tests.
