Neighbors: Student supports overseas troops with gifts
A local student, studying engineering and soccer at GCCC, has shifted from sending random items to a specific group of six U S soldiers in Iraq. Five are interrogators and one is a counter intelligence agent who also work with local Iraqis to meet community needs. The group asks for items to distribute to Iraqi children, prompting the student to fill boxes with shampoo, T shirts, soccer balls, and cleats donated by GCCC men's soccer.

Platinum Gas Saver advertised to boost mileage 22 percent
Federal consumer protection confirms the fuel saving claim for the Platinum Gas Saver by Boston National Fuelsaver Corp. The device connects to a vacuum line to add platinum vapor, supposedly increasing fuel burning inside the engine from 68 percent to 90 percent. The ad cites a five year government study claiming independent testing shows greater savings than the 22 percent figure, and notes patents for carbon cleaning and octane raising.
