District keeps intermediate centers for now in USD 457 plan
At a district retreat the USD 457 Board unanimously dropped plans for K through 6 schools, choosing to keep fifth and sixth grades in intermediate centers for now. Enrollments at two rural elementary schools and data from a research committee influenced the decision, with ministers noting transitions affect learning and that centers are not broken. Some members urged more study before any change, while others highlighted slight costs and potential benefits of the existing setup. A bond plan to fund a new high school remains a separate focus.
