Hugoton rallies past Holcomb to reach state tournament
Hugoton erased a 14 point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Holcomb 59 to 51 and earn their first state bid since 1951. Parker Titus scored 18 points and led a 13 point final period, while Zack Leininger stayed out of foul trouble as Hugoton seized control with a 17-2 run. Holcomb, led by Brandon Stegman and Braden Showalter, had built an early advantage but could not sustain it, despite late heroics and a strong first half. Hugoton, seeded second behind Girard, will open at Emporia against Garnett on Thursday, with their eye on a deep state run.
