No Simple Spring Switch Across Time Zone Border
The Finlay farmhouse near Kendall sits on the line between Central and Mountain Time, with east rooms in Central and west rooms in Mountain. Since the 1980s Kearny County sought to shift from Mountain to Central Time, and the area remains split among Hamilton, Greeley, Wallace, and Sherman counties. Locals adapt by ignoring phone clocks, planning around appointments, and recalling a late 1980s town hall when officials debated the change amid Moonlight Madness and Santa Claus.
