Snow Storm Traps Ex-Student and 20 Airmen in Japan
Airman Second Class Donald D. Eilerts of Guymon Oklahoma and 20 other airmen of the 528th Aircraft Control and Warning Group were marooned on a mountain top radar site in Japan for four days due to a heavy December snowstorm. They were supplied with warm clothing, food, and water by a sequence of air drops from USAF pilots. Eilerts, son of Floyd U. and wife, enlisted in October 1952 after attending Garden City Junior College and has completed electronics and radar repair courses before joining the Far East Air Forces in April 1954.
